Installations in the U.S. & Canada > Residential Concrete Pools > Pools with a Vanishing Edge - 601 sq. ft. or more
This sleek modern pool offers a dramatic backyard statement that complements an equally impressive modern house. The pool follows the same clean lines of the house, but stands out as a focal point within the yard because of its raised, perimeter overflow beam and minimal decking. The water flows over the eight inch raised beam into a trough, which is covered with Mexican Beach Pebbles. The twelve-inch Lueder band wraps around the pool and becomes the coping for the separate in ground spa to tie it all together. The simple pool is a welcome complement to the modern house. The tile and plaster color combination, along with the tile finish give the pool a seamless look and the viewer can easily lose where the water ends and the pool beam begins. The pool utilizes a buried gunite surge tank that collects and holds the water that spills over the beam before it is retuned back to the pool through the filter.
One of the challenges on this project was to design a separate, covered dining cabana space that appeared as though it had been designed with the original house. By pulling our cues from the architecture and materials of the home, we created a sleek, modern dining area, that definitely does not look like an add on! The modern fire pit is anchored into the steel support posts of the new cabana, giving it a genuine connection to the space, and allows an additional bit of ambience to al fresco dining.
