There was a small pool and spa at this home that had an NSPI International Awards Of Excellence Gold Medal in 2004.
1. Every project of this caliber requires an unusual level of quality workmanship.
2. A stark contrast of the travertine decks against the dark blue tile and interiors gives a sense of pause. The reflections of the towering Canary Island Date palms on the reflective dark interiors give a sense of awe.
3. The design had to rival or even surpass the national award winning pool we were replacing.
The owner and his children are competitive swimmers. They also like to have fun and entertain.
A competition sized lap pool that can be maintained at a desired temperature year around not only had to be functional but enhance the style of the opulent residence. A fire bowl at the master and four fire bowls across the back of the lap lane add to the night time ambiance. The rim overflow not only looks great but also makes this a "fast" pool limiting the waves. The Lap pool is within .25" of completion length, has competition swim lane markers as well as a regulation starting platform and backstroke anchors, poles and flags.
A 9' deep pool with a 7' tall rock formation was in order for the fun part. The rock formation has a custom slide with an exit 4' above the water and different levels to jump from. At the center of the entertainment area is the rim overflow spa, close proximity to the 45" fire bowl.
4. Established landscaping around the establisbed home had to be considered in the design to make sure the new pool did not look like an afterthought. While the home has a tuscan style the owners wanted a newer design to the pool. The travertine pavers brought the styles together nicely.
