Description
A. What was it about this project that required an unusual level of quality workmanship?
Our design and build team had to balance distance to equipment, water-in-transit, basin capacity, appropriate materials, and precise workmanship to ensure that the desired visual effect could be achieved. We needed to ensure even flow over every inch of the perimeter, so pipe and pump sizes, and their locations in proximity to the pool, were crucial. We also had to size the basin capacity to be able to contain all water-in-transit (for when the system is shut off). To allow the water to flow evenly over the perimeter edge, the tile on the face and top of the spillover had to be installed within a variance of 1/16th of an inch. To create a visually pleasing transition from the yard to the basin opening, we installed dark grates where the opening met the walls and filled them with Mexican Pebble.
B. Describe how this pool design integrates effectively with the home, landscape or both.
This pool was designed to be built in the backyard of a high-end sophisticated home. The home itself is built in an elite high-end development. The pool with its three-sided negative edge is elegant, the crème de la crème complimenting a home that sits on an exclusive golf course.
